Reformed Church |
The fortress was one of the considerable strengths of our region during the 16-17th century. The church was rebuit in the 15.century in a Gothic style and it had been varnished and enlarged during the forthcoming centuries. A Renaissance style stone pulpit may be seen in the church from the year 1700, ordered by Bernáld János to be constructed by the time of the second big renewal of the church. On the pulpit there are five subtitled and emblazoned stone tablets but the name of the stonecutter is unknown. Under the plaster and a lime layer of the southwestern surface of the nave are hiding the remains of a fresco about the legend of Ladislau I of Hungary. The burial place of the vaulted Damokos crypt and of other distinguished families is under the floor level. In the 1780s the community put an end to the burials in the churchyard around the church, thus assigning the cemetery garden to this purpose, being user ere now. The church took its today looks between 1799-1800. The communion table with the blazon of the Damokos family was made of white carrara marble by the time of the big renovation in 1904,its stone foundation is carved. A marble tablet was placed above the newly built church entrance onto the memory of the millenium. |
