The Cserei Maison - Racu |
Cserei Mansion is the birthplace of the most prominent figure of the family, of Cserei Mihály. Cserei Mihály was a historian of Transylvania, declaring with his particular Transylvanian reasoning that Transylvanian is affected by each evil from the direction of Hungary. The Mansion was built in 1667, and on the October 21st of the same year Cserei Mihály was also born. The last descendant of the family was Cserei Susanna, who died in 1712. In connection with her, we can remark an interesting fact, concerning our literary history. Namely, according to the inscriptions of the parish, she was the betrothed of Mikes Kelemen. The family objected this marriage, however, and Susanna was brought to Vienna, to split up the young ones. This came to an end, as Susan came home, Mikes had already flown abroad with Prince Rákóczi. The mansion building today is still standing, but is has been modernised. Although on the ceiling of a room are old inscriptions in Latin on the balk still visible. |
